The San Francisco Young Democrats (SFYD) are saddened to hear of former SFYD Board Member and City College Trustee Chris Jackson's decision to resign from the City College Board of Trustees. City College is a crucial institution for young people in San Francisco and Chris has been a leader there - championing education access, securing childcare for students and working to close the achievement gap for The City's underserved populations.
As a club we encourage young people to take leadership roles in government and public policy. While we regret this loss of young representation in local elected office, we understand and support Chris's decision as his resignation sheds light on the undemocratic nature in which all of our elected Trustees were stripped of their power. We look forward to working with Chris in the future as we continue to advocate for young people in San Francisco.
