An in depth discussion of the need for and potential impacts of comprehensive immigration reform in the United States. How will reform impact local communities? How will reform affect young people in our state and across the country?

- David Campos, Supervisor, District Nine, City and County of San Francisco:
A native of Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, Supervisor Campos came to the U.S. with his family when he was 14. Campos attended Stanford University and Harvard Law School, and has served as Deputy City Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco. Campos has held his seat on the Board of Supervisors since 2008 and is a leading voice on immigration matters within City Hall.

We have a lot on the horizon for the rest of the summer. Our August membership will be Wednesday August 8. In this meeting we will be discussing:
1. Early endorsements for Matt Haney and Chris Jackson.
2. Hearing from ballot measures on the November 2012 ballot
3. Voting on a bylaws amendment to change our candidate endorsement process
As announced at our July meeting, Leader Pelosi is getting ready to take back the House and SFYD wants to help! Lastly, our annual fundraiser and award ceremony Ball in Blue is just around the corner. If you have not been before, this event is a fun, semi formal social and fundraising event in which we honor a "Young at Heart Dem." Past honorees have included former State Senator Mark Leno, Sen Leland Yee, CDP Chair John Burton, and political activist Jane Morrison.
This year it will be at Dear Mom and there will be an
open bar and appetizers.

At our July meeting we held elections for 3 officer positions and heard from the candidates for Sheriff.
