History of Tulsa & Wealth Inequality in the U.S.

Join the San Francisco Young Democrats in a presentation on the history of Tulsa’s Greenwood district and the history of wealth inequality in the United States.

Amirah Burleigh, Non-Profit Education Coordinator, will discuss how Black Wall Street was formed in Tulsa’s Greenwood district in the early 1900s, the thriving community that existed there, and the ultimate destruction of Black Wall Street by white supremacists that contributed to years of racial wealth inequality that still exists today.

Professor Hayduk, Professor of Political Science at SFSU, will discuss the massive wealth inequality that exists in the United States today and how that inequality is affected by racial discrimination.

Those who RSVP through Eventbrite will receive the Zoom link on the day of the event. The event will also be livestreamed to the San Francisco Young Democrats Facebook page.

Please note: This is a qualifying SFYD event, so please ensure that you have registered through the Eventbrite.
