Reforming California's Justice System

Join the San Francisco Young Democrats in a discussion on reforming the justice system in California. Panelists will be breaking down the various justice reform California propositions on the November 2020 ballot! This discussion will feature panelists with a broad array of experience interfacing with and working to reform the justice system. They will offer context for current policies such as mass incarceration, subsequent voter disenfranchisement, and the cash bail system’s impact on individuals and their communities.

Panelists include:

Chesa Boudin, San Francisco District Attorney
Shay Franco-Clausen, Yes on Proposition 17 Campaign Manager
Renée Menart, Communications & Policy Analyst for the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice (CJCJ)

California propositions to be discussed:
Proposition 17 - Voting Rights Restoration for Persons on Parole Amendment
Proposition 20 - Criminal Sentencing, Parole, and DNA Collection Initiative
Proposition 25 - Replace Cash Bail with Risk Assessments Referendum
